here it goes...

It all started the day after my birthday.... Jesse and I had the day off of work due to mutiple doctor's appointments.. the morning appointments went great- I had been able to control my gestational diabetes with just diet and exercise.. and we got to see our little one in an ultra sound!!! Then we went to my OB appointment and it went all downhill... my blood pressure, which had been steadily rising, was through the roof and my doctor wanted me to be admitted to the hospital immediately so that I could be closely monitored... she was worried that I might be in the beginning stages of preeclampsia... So thursday night was spent in the hospital and everything thing seemed to be o.k. They started me on the steroids to help develope the baby's lungs once I got admitted which kinda made me nervous that she would be making an early arrival... things continued o.k. til Friday (the 18th) around 8:30 p.m. when we got some test results back that were much worse than earlier test results.. the nurse called my doctor who decided that we had to do an emergency C-section.. the procedure started at 10:00 p.m. and baby was born at 10:07!!! Her lungs still weren't quite developed so they had to give her a shot to help them inflate and then she was on a little bit of oxygen for about a day.... I can't describe how hard it is to see your new little bundle of joy for the first time with an i.v. in her head and oxygen in her nose, not to mention all of the monitors that are constantly making noises.... our little K.C. has thrived despite being 7 weeks early... she has been taken off of all of her monitors and just has a little feeding tube now that we sometimes use when she can't finish her bottle... Jesse and I are at the hospital every 3 hours to change her diaper and give her a bottle... We pray every day that she will be able to come home with us soon so that we can have more than a half hour of cuddle time!!!

I wanted to thank all of you who have put our names in the temple and kept us in your prayers.. the doctors and nurses have all commented on how advanced she is for her age.. most babies don't even start to eat from a bottle until they are 35 weeks gestation but she has been eating from a bottle from the second she was born... I am certain that it is due the the outpouring of love that has been shown by all of our family and friends!! I will be certain to keep you posted on how our girl is doing and let you know when we get to bring her home.. until then please keep her in your prayers- we will take all the extra help that we can get ;)
Love,
jess

Oh bless your guys heart! I can't even imagine what it is like to have a baby 7 weeks early! My bf had hers 11 weeks early and everything is all good now, but I know they were freaking out about all the monitors and everything at first.

Your little bundle of joy will be home with you guys before you know it! And that is SO awesome that she is taking a bottle for you guys so early! Congrats and your in our prayers!

Hope she continues to do well. Scary about the pre-enclampsia (sp). My aunt got that. :( Well, not the pre-she got the full blown version. Scary business. She was in the hospital herself for months because her body shut down. I'm glad that you are doing good and that baby girl is handling things so well! Hope you continue to recover yourself quickly. -James and Michelle
